Hi this site has been very helpful to me and I have another question.
I have a 2006 F 150 stx with a 5 speed manual tranny and was wondering when i should service and how often and if I should have it flushed or can you diy on a manual tranny. Thanks

You can't flush a manual trans. All you need to do is drain and refill. It's easy to do, there is a drain plug and a fill plug. Remove the fill plug first, then the drain plug. When it's done draining put the drain plug back in and fill the trans until it's at the bottom of the fill plug opening. Reinstall the fill plug and you're done.
You probably will need to get a pump to put the new fluid in. I bought a hand pump at a hardware store for less than $10. It worked fine to fill the trans up.
Your owner's manual will say how often you need to do this, I only know the interval for an automatic.
