Tail Gate
Hey fellas,
I am still in route back to the states, but I plan to nib this problem in the butt. I have a tail gate that needs replacing. Anyone out there have a good tail gate they would want to sell me? I will be shipping it to Vegas. If I dont find one here I found some on eBay. Has anyone bought one of these tail gates. A 150 bucks seems like too little for an entire tail gate brand new

I don't know what eBay seller you're looking at but '97-'03 tailgate shells are $76.50 in my area from Certifit. You just have to use the guts out of your old one. They're not bad quality either.........

I just bought a used tailgate complete for 150.00 It has no rust but a couple of small dents. It was black the same as the truck and was a simple drop in. I found another one for 450.00 but was a lite green. both were from junk yards in the Ottawa area.

When you get back, my suggestion is to watch the craigslist ads twice a day within 100 miles of where you are located. I have bought 3 gates off craigslists. A new 02 take off in true blue clearcoat(same color as my truck) for $200, an 08 take off sd black with step and camera for $350, and an 06 white f250 take off for $150. I had also passed on a couple with a few dings in the panel and they were in the $75-$150 range. Also it seems like their are alot of take off parts coming from texas on ebay, which isnt too far for shipping to vegas. A few years back in wisconsin their was a truck body place which sold me 2 new take off sd pickup boxes in white with gates and tail lights for $400 each , and $50 more each for the rear bumper, and they were happy to get rid of them telling me they were too new for demand , and nobody wanted them. Look for the deal and you will find it in short time, possibly in the correct color.

Whats the craiglists? a internet site I assume.
Anyone know what years I can go to. Mine is the 98 f-250 LD so I assume that just like the forum 97 to 2003 will fit. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks for the help

craigslist is an internet site where you can purchase new/used things from other people in your area.. it has numerous other things like dating service and job oppurtunities

97-03 F150 gates are the same as a 99-07 F250-F350 gates except for the emblem. You could fit an 08 superduty gate on a 97-03 F150 but you would need the bracket for the spring assist, plus the 08 gate would have a big superduty stamped across the bottom.

Scanned the chicago craigslist for a week, and 2 gates popped up. First one was a 04 F250 white one with lock taken off when the truck was new. That one was 80 miles away and $150. A few days later a 02 F150 white gate with lock popped up whick was also a take off when the truck was new. That one was 40 miles away and $125.
