Jake brake sound
Can anyone tell me whats going on in this youtube video of this 6.9?

It sounds just like a jake brake. Can someone explain. What's up with Push the button??? Does he mean he is turning off the overdrive and it downshifts? Sure would love that sound getting off the highway in mine, thats for sure!!!

No button. He's just engine breaking through a strait pipe. Think he has a turbo as well so its not even as loud as it could be. I had a strait pipe with my truck for a little while and it sounded exactly like that when engine breaking anywhere above 2000 RPM.

If you think that was great, you should hear mine with straight piped stacks when I drop off one of the local hills towing a piece of equipment.

That's Justin and he has a 5 speed, so all he does is find a hill and back out of the throttle. You can get a similar sound out of the autos by adding a switch to manually lock the TC, then find a hill and try it. Your results may vary.

it seems to me that the 6.9 doesent like to shut down ( slow down when ya drop a gear ) at 55 ill thow mine into 2nd and when it finnaly gets to 45 its like i have a pac break or somthing on it cause it almost tries to kill its self, for that truck any way lol theres a noticeable change, and it throws ya against the seat belt
