FE oiling improvements
Or you could go a roller cam and not then the ZDDP additive.
Amsoil still have ZDDP in the 20W-50 racing oil, the original 10W-40, and the 15W-40 Marine oil. I use the racing oil.

I've been using Mobil 1 for years, both racing and street engines... Ran the Royal Purple stuff this year (sponsor deal) and had no problems.. Think I'll stick with it.
As to the oil argument.... Think as usual folks are comparing apples to oranges... The lack of zinc is a break in problem, not a longevity problem (or at least not as much). Another thing that makes the argument a mute point is the usage of the engine..... Seems some rate their engines by the miles on the odometer, I rate mine by the printout from the chassis dyno.... Though proper machining and fitting is essential to both, a 3,000 rpm, 275 hp engine has entirely different oil and oiling system requirements then a 500 RWHP, 7,000 rpm engine.... Perhaps the type of engine and it's intended usage should be the first thing considered, maybe then a discussion of the attributes of the oil and oiling system would be a bit more meaningful and a lot less opinionated.... As with everything else, the technology on oil is changing everyday....

Well I will be dipped, 6 years later, I still have one of those listed above with 40,000 more miles, still on the road, still waiting for it to kill over. My 66 FE is still drinking the cheapest gas on the corner.
Motor oil and gasoline additives still have not been proven to be necessery.
