can anyone tell me where i can ID my engine?
it's in a 1971 F600, the cert plate says it's a 361,
but I found an old "Jasper" sticker on the valve
cover. the block # is D4TE, the # on the oil filter
pad is D3TE, and the marking btween the front
2 plugs is a big M with a C inside another C under
the M. it has a 4 bbl holley, D5TE-9510-08,
List-7158-1, 495.
is there a book somewhere that tells what these codes mean???
any help would be greatly appreciated
D=70's the next # is the year in that decade, and the next T means it was originally for a truck, these castings dont tell you what the engine was if it was in a F600 im guessing it was a 361 like u stated
You can do a stroke test to determine if it's a 361 or 391. Is there anything between the center two spark plugs like a D3TE etc? How about a number on the intake manifold? The carb. # is different, are you positive the last two digits are 08? My book shows them all ending in one or two letters, maybe it's a CB? The MCC means Michigan Casting Center.
thanks BB, I will have to check on these numbers
again. there's a lot of rust and crust on this motor
it is pouring down rain and COLD right now, but I
will look again ASAP and holla back atcha
