The box bed on my '99 Super Duty 4X4 is pretty much finished. The thin guage makes repair of the many splits and gashes impractical. In this part of the country, many truck owners replace with a pre fab steel deck flatbed. Does anyone manufacture a wooden bed for a single rear wheel truck? I sure cannot find any and have searched the internet and the local dealers.
Any leads would be appreciated. I have thought about making my own. Our local hardware store has a nice "collection" of Clear grade oak 2X6s that have sitting in his yard for a very long time. The truck is sitting with the box off and I would like to get it back on the road sooner rather than later.
I built a flat bed on a '71 half ton that I had and it turned out really nice. Built the frame with steel, trimmed it in diamond plate, and had a wood deck. I added tool boxes in front of the rear tires later on. It turned a lot of heads. If I remember right, I only had 5 or 6 hundred bucks in it.
