do i still need a panhard bar?

this might possibly sound like a really dumb question. i have a 6" lift on my 97 f350. im going to do the SKY shackle reversal and flip combo on it in the near future. i already ahve the panhard bar drop bracket installed that came with the skyjacker kit. the SKY kit also comes with one. i was thinking about just fabbing a bracket instead of being ghetto and bolting the 2 togehter.

HOWEVER, i was looking at some pics today of a truck of the same vintage with 12" of suspension lift, achieved in the same manner, and this guy had no panhard bar on his truck. i also noticed that some of the older solid axle trucks do not have them.

the truck is no longer my daily driver and the only time it spends on road is when im driving it to my friends house to wheel it.

what are the pros and cons of removing this thing all togheter when i put on the sky kit?

sorry if this seems like a n00b question lol.

I don't know if you need one, but I think that is about the only way to prevent death wobble with a side-to-side steering system. Of course, at slow speeds offroading, there probably isn't much death wobble.

I would put one on, but I am kind of fanatical like that.

All you can do is try it without it on & see what happens.

Consider liability issues should you decide to remove the bar.... if by chance you were to get in an accident, with not only a large lift but also minus a piece of hardware that the factory thought was necessary......you just might find yourself making an ambulance chasing attorney happy and rich.

I had the same setup on a 1996 F-250 supercab longbed... 3" Sky flip and reversal and 6" Skyjacker springs. I never used the panhard bar after putting the Sky stuff on. If it were a street truck, I'd put it on, but moving the shackle to the back of the leafspring solves the instability problem inherent from the factory. The only two times I experienced death wobble was when I drove on the street without my swaybar connected. I re-used the factory F-250 swaybar, which does not hang below the axle like the F-350 one does. As for liability, I don't think the Sky stuff is DOT compliant at all...."For offroad use only."

The higher you go, the more force you have to the side when cornering.

The way people drive today, you want anything that will give you more control on the highway so you can avoid the dummies.

A sudden swerve to avoid something might give unpredictable steering without the panhard bar.
