No specialty, just gone up to Wyoming 3 times to hunt deer. I was hoping to go Elk hunting next year. When I was a kid my old man used to take me out every year. Up in Kern county. But I'm looking to do some Elk hunting now. I'm sure it is going to take some practice and patients. Hoping to hook up with someone that has been doing it for a wile. Nothing like learning from someone that already went through the tough part of learning.
Just tore down my 30-06 re-doing a few things. Stock, trigger assembly stuff like that. Parts are so expensive man. But I love to shoot so I will do what I have to to get her done.

I've taken a lot of deer over the years in WY. Started in '85, and I guess averaged going every other year or so. But my last deer trip was 1999. That's when Muledeer populations across the west took a nose dive. It's tough to find a quality head there now. Meanwhile, Elk and even Whitetail populations are exploding.
I hunted Elk last year but didn't get one. Two out of our foursome took one. Now days I mostly like to hunt Pronghorns, and since the deer are down, that is what I have done the most of. Well, not counting pigs here in CA. I've killed more pigs than anything I guess.
But WY is where my heart is. I love it up there.
You really need an ATV or horse to be serious with Elk.

My sister and I just purchased 80 acres just west of Laramie. Hope to build a nice little home some day. I miss the country man. Maybe 10 years from now I will be able to take off from here and live up in the country.
