I'm with you on that Mike, I have my original black one, a blue one, another black one and a grey one in the motor now. All of them have been in the motor at one point or another.

I hear what you are saying Chris, but I am not happy with my rot vel numbers either. Seems ever since I went gray, they appeared. Truck runs great otherwise.

I thought the gray one was doing alright until I put the original black one back in about two weeks ago.. The mileage numbers have come back up by about .5 mpg and swear there is less smoke, too. I don't have the AE, yet, but I think there may have been some Rotational Velocity issues there with the gray one.

Jody doesn't tune around the CPS. He just doesn't recommend the grey one. We have had too many customers call us with reports of using the grey with immediate fuel loss and rough idles. Switching back to the IH black these problems went away.

Not many of us do. That's why we are sharing our observations on them. The CPS basically uses a magnet to sense gaps notched into the cam gear to determine timing. Different sensitivity or spacing on the magnet can affect how well the timing information is received by the PCM.
