Question Engine mount opinions for 351w

Has enyone tried these engine mounts from speedway? I'm looking for some for my 351w to go in a 54 F100 with a MII crossmember. I like that they come with the weld on tabs and also include the mount to bolt to the block. The other one I was looking at would be the type TCI sells. With TCI's I would still need to purchase a mount for the block. Anyone use either of these or have an opinion good or bad about either one?

They both look pretty good but since I have to also buy the motor mount itself I am leaning towards the Speedway version.

Oye! I hope I'm not confused on this one but I seem to recall that Chassis Engineering makes SBF Motor mounts that are integrated onto their Mustang II IFS systems. So if you don't have any of it yet, you might want to look at the web page from the link below.

I used the motor mounts you pictured with my 289 in the '55 F-100 and they worked great (but it wasn't a performance set up) But I retained the stock front end and didn't have to worry about interference from the front end, or (and you might want to check this out as well) interference with the oil pan

Here's a link for Chassis Eng.

Julie, I've already got a TCI crossmember installed. Which mounts do you have in your 55 F100, speedway's or TCI's? What problems did you have with it since you mentioned that it wasn't a "performance setup"?

Thanks.

Sorry to be so vague but I really don't remember the brand.....I looked at the picture and the speedway just looked the same as mine....25 years ago ya know.

I mention the performance aspect because of the tremendous performance varience in the SBF 289 I had (which was stock and had a 3spd overdrive) and what you can do with a 351W. I would suggest that torque generated by horsepower and gearing (not a function of added weight especially with the MII front end) might drive you toward something a little beefier - maybe a reinforced custome welded mount of some type.

I have an FE390 PI currently in my 51 and just went through a broken store bought pipe type cross member/motor mount set...snapped it right at the frame.

So, that's why the comment about "it was fine but in a non performance application, it was never tested."

Just food for thought - based on your plans for the drive train. If you are leaving it stock - automatic transmission, etc. I think your mounts will be more than sufficient. Planning on a cam, headers, 4BBl, yadda yadda, 4sdp, I would be tempted mount it with a little more girth.

J!

PS. and of course you boxed your frame with the MII set up and the TCI crossmember already so you are ok there - right?

Julie, I have boxed the front part of the frame and I plan on boxing the rest also. I was thinking along the same lines as you with the speedway mounts. They look a little flimsy compared to TCI's and that's why I was wondering if anyone else may have used them. I do plan on modding my 351 so stronger mounts may be in order.
