To a 5.0 mustang..With holley heads intake e303.& other stuff When we race him we beat him out of the hole real good .. He catches up towardes the end. but cant beat us...The truck is strong out of the hole need everbit of 315-60-15 drag radials.... He has 15 more HP than us But we got a lot more tourq... So with his set up he dosnt make power till 3000...Where we make power right at the line... He is runing a 2400 stall .... Were runing stock converter.... The truck on the dynojet RW 240HP 300 tourq... That was with bent leafsprings 14deg pos pinion angle... We did not know at the time... So i guess its more his intake head set up that makes the diff ..???. Alot of pepole say the 302s have no low end .... Why do we... Lew
That's pretty good power numbers there, about what is expected from a 5.0, what's the rest of your combo.. gearing, curb weight? Are you using the stock truck intake?

Guessing at what the Mustang has I'd say shorties and 3.73 gears, your intake and heads will produce quite a bit more low rpm TQ than the Holley topend, so even though the stang weighs less the holeshot goes to you. But you could still have even more TQ with a cam better suited to your combo, playing with desktop dyno I found 30ft lbs more with virtually no loss in peak HP with an off-the-shelf cam, a custom grind would certainly do even better.
The big point here is that your combo is much better suited to that motor and vehicle than his is, longtubes, that long runner intake, and the gears all factor into the SOTP dyno and produce what feels like quite a bit more TQ.
I talked to Comp Cam the other day. I have a stock 302 but am changing the intake and a 600 or 650 carb. They said a K-Kit Extreme Energy 262 Cam would be good with a stock converter. Conanski I see your running a comp cam also. What do you think about this comp cam. It makes power from 1500 rpm to 5500 or 6500 rpm. I want a cam that you can at least here. I believe I can get the "complete" cam kit for $377. Thanks Scott
These cams are nice.. the one I have produces a very broad powerband.. the motor just keeps on pulling all the way across the tach. Make sure you get a carb specific cam(110lsa), the one I have is EFI friendly and that compromises peak power some.. no need to do that if you don't have to.

How did you know that??? Right on the money..He has shorties & 373...I have anouther 5.0 block ready to be built should any thing happen to the motor we have now....May stroke that to a 347...when we do that i will check with you on cam advise...Thanks Lew
we saved weight on exhaust...got rid of everthing..went long tube headers no cats just 2 1/2 in duels to 44 flow masters & turn downs right after the cab...Removed front gas tank...& spare tire...removed rear bummper & install fiber glass roll pan..fiberglass hood...removed air pump & egr..removed center seat section...replace front bumper with fiberglass bumper from fast ford fiberglass...lighter wheels...a lot of little stuff we didnt need...... Lew
I'd love to shed some pounds on mine but I can't seem to give up those creature comforts. I dumped the stock stainless exhaust and went with a 3 inch Pickrel system. I'm sure the supercharger and intercooler install made up for difference in the exhaust weight reduction.
I didn't know Brian/fastford was still making bumpers for these rigs.

As far as i know Brian is still making stuff..I know he does it himself... I got the bumper about 8 months ago...Real nice fits great...Like your truck....I really like the gen 1 s... So its supercharged...must run good !!!....Lew
