99 F150 4.2L Leaking from Tube pressed into manifold, Front of engine. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thought about JB weld but have to take top intake off to reach it. Thanks in advance for any help!!
i dont know what the tube looks like on the 4.2 , if it is rusted, your screwed. if it leaks at the press joint and metal is still good, i would try BARS stop leak. I use the slilver flake stuff and it seals small leaks in gaskets and radiator. use it a lot in old trucks and tractors. i dont like the brown, oily liquied stuff. makes the antifreeze look like crap.... i had a real problem with a flange gasket on the bottom of a 5.4 intake manifold (cross over water pipe). i ended up getting the "head gasket sealer" type of BARS leak. You drain the antifreeze, install clean water and the sealer. run and let it work for an hour, then drain and refill with antifreeze. that was 9 months ago- works great. i regular radiator sealer would not hold more than 3 weeks.
Thanks Steve. The pin hole leak is right above the flange where the tube is pressed into the manifold. I flushed the system and put in prestone sealer. Seems to have stoped for now. Need to drive it and find out if it holds.
