Help Still Have E40d Problems
WELL I'M BACK AND STILL HAVEING TRANNY PROBLEMS THIS TIME TRANS SHOP SAYS TRANS IS FINE BUT STILL WON'T SHIFT RIGHT TRANS SEEMS TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 3RD AND NO OVER DRIVE WITH NO FLASHING LIGHT ON THE OVERDRIVE SWITCH. HAVE REPLACED THE FIPL SWITCH AND SET REPLACED THE MANUAL SELECTOR SWITCH WAS WONDERING IF THE TRANS CONTROLLER COULD BE THE PROBLEM? TRANS SHOWS NO CODES. HELP PLEASE

It sounds like the TCM has no power or is dead. Will your overdrive off light even come on if you press the o/d off button? First check all your fuses. After that, I really don't know where to go from here cause I have never had this problem (yet). You can unplug the tranny from the tcm and if it shifts the same, then you know its a tcm issue, possibly power to it, or electrical between tcm and tranny.

Try shifting manually with the od off. when you get to third, then turn it on. You should feel 4 distinct shifts. Above 37mph you should also get torque converter lockup, which if working right will also feel like another shift. I suspect maybe the tc may be at fault if the tcm is working properly. Does reverse function normally?

shift dosen't change whether light is on or off manually when I shift manual it shifts solid and reverse is solid just no 4th gear or if you select drive then that is when it shifts 1st, 3rd skips second and very weak shift like converter slip and no 4th gear.
