I wonder if you laid them our side by side, could you see any difference. I bet the difference is for different carbs.
All I know is I manipulated one and made it work. Don't know what it's pedigree was.
My #10 was why would there be a difference in a big car, a small car, a truck if they all had the same engine/tranny.
John
The 2V carbs are basically the same from 1965 thru 1972. 1965/66's, some 1967's have manual chokes, 1970/72's have a choke pull off on the airhorn, some have an electronic dashpot, all these carbs use the same overhaul kit (1963/74 is the same), and most other internal parts are the same...but none of this matters inre to the kickdown rod.
What does matter is the different bellcranks on the engine, cars/trucks do not use the same ones, and like the kickdown rods, there are different types specific to the engine.
The differences in engine mountings between cars/trucks, the firewalls and other sheet metal between cars & trucks, and other factors waaay too numerous to list.
If anyone thinks that a partsguy had it EZ back then, they are sadly mistaken.
Most customers came to the parts counter with a not shred of info (reminds me of some posters here-like front counter customers, they must think we're mindreaders!).
Figuring out what fits what, because of the all myriad parts, production and serial number changes, was a PITA.
Luckily, I was a back shop parts counterman most of my career, so I didn't have to mess with klewless ppl at the front parts counter.
Today it's EZ, cuz all these partsguys have to do, is type the VIN into the 'puter, and...all the parts numbers for that specific vehicle come up!
