What is a rebuilt Holset H2E worth? There is a place near me that sells used truck parts and he has a rebuilt H2E in the box, but I don't now what it is worth. Thanks in advance for the help guys!
I am not sure but I would guess $1200.00 for a good used or rebuilt one. Then again that may be high or low. Look around in the classifieds for them. I know they are there but vary in prices. It depends on if somebody needs on or not. Supply/Demand.
For a used turbo you can find them for $300. Rebuilt around $4-500. The turbo is really nothing special, its the mounting kit you pay out the nose for in the kits. I have one used right now that I am hoping to get my hands on for $250.
I stand corrected. Now I remember seeing some for sale for around that price.
You know, about that kit. I can't believe they get what they do for that kit. All can be homemade. The only issue to overcome would be the uppipe collector/turbo bracket that is made by h-max. The uppipes could be done fairly easy as well as the rest of the kit.
Makes you kinda wonder if you could run some oil lines back and put some exhaust out of the manifolds towards the back of the truck then mount the turbo under the truck. Look ma no turbo. Now you wanna race???
I am not really sure but from what I saw when I removed mine it may be possible. The stock collector is more round and the H2e is square. I guess anything is possible with engineering. The problem you would have is that the stock turbo is mounted to the pedestal and the collector hangs off the turbo. The H2e collector is mounted to the engine on the plate. The turbo is mounted to that. So if you were to make an adaptor you still need to address the problem of what to mount the turbo to. The uppipes and collector won't hold that bugger up.
I have a friend that owns a machine shop so I was thinking about making my own mounting kit. Neal I have been looking at some of your pics for ideas and I think it can be done. Not sure what I want to do yet just trying to brainstorm alittle.
