If your new coil is marked + & - and you have a + ground system connect the + to the dist and the - to the wire from the switch.

It will run hooked up either way.

On the coil, which wires go to pos and neg. when old coil says dist. and battery? Sounds stupid but I need to know if I hooked them up backwards.....thanks --Bill
Bill, it's time to hook up a 6 volt electric fuel pump. You wanna know why?

The cam lobe the fuel pump runs off of is worn.

This is a very common problem with 223 engines.

You can buy a fuel pump block off plate anywhere. The same one was used on: all the OHV I-6's, Y blocks, and damn near everything else except for 351C/351M and 400 engines.

I can't recall what wires go where. But we both know someone who does: Jon Myer = Myers Studebaker Parts, located in good 'ol Duncan Falls, OH.

Jon was a Ford line mechanic at Slick (yes, Slick) Ford in Venice, CA many moons ago.
