69 Bronco

I have come across a 69 bronco.
It has been sitting for over 10 years in a storage shed, dirt floor.
Paint is rough, floor needs replacing, rust through in fender and some on rocker pannel.

It has a 302 w/auto trans.
no dents.
paint is rough
46,000 miles

owner says make him a fair offer.
What would you say is a fair offer for this bronco?

Thanks
Jon

It really matters where this thing is and who's selling it and who you are. If you live in Cali expect to pay more than if you are in Alabama. Expect to pay more if you are rolling up in an S550 AMG you washed that morning versus a fleet white 89 F150 with a stick shift six with a dent on the bedside. People aren't going to take Hank Hill money from Vinnie Chase.

Take into account the features and options. If it has a Dana 44, power brakes, power steering, disc brakes.... you can find anyhting on these things even if it wasn't a factory setup for the year. Does it run? Are the doors there? Is it stock? Is is lifted using a lift kit or a home made lift? The list goes on....

In that situation go with your gut.... I usually offer what I want to pay and say something like "Last time I bought something like that I paid X, so what do you think?" As long as the seller doesn't think you are some turkey who is trying to bamboozle them bad, they will work with you if they are really interested in selling. Plus you can get info from them about the truck, which helps you make an informed decision.... like if they are trying to hornswoggle you by telling you its a Stroppe and worth a mint when it's just a stocker with power steering!

Assuming it is all original and probally has 146,000 miles, I'd figure $500 max. There will be at least twice as much rust as you see. Doubt you could part it out and regain investment. Nothing special about that year. With no power steering and drum brakes, it's not an enjoyable driver.

If it was me I'd keep looking, sounds like that needs alot of love. Low miles but sitting that long you'd want to go through everything, also lots of rust repares.

Thanks for your replys.

This Bronco is stock with nothing added. Rough but it is all there.
One of my concerns is the automatic trans after sitting all those years.

My idea is to try and get it for cheep and use it on mountain trails in West Virginia.

I offered $700. He said he was thinking more like $6,000.
I told him no hard feelings but it aint worth any more than the $700. also he used to push snow with it. I'll keep looking.

That is typical...... 6000 nickels maybe! You can thank your friends at Barrett-Jackson, the car magazines, and that idiot that paid a million for that Hemi Cuda for the inflation of junk!

I had $18K invested in my 73 with a brand spanking new 351W hyped up, rebuilt C4, BB9", D44 w/ Power Disk Brakes and Power steering. Bikini top and no doors. Viper Red and black. Sold it for $7500.00.

Dood wants $6K for a rusted out pile of ****... he's smoking crack...

Here in utah he'd likely get 4k for it, some of the classic bronco's frames/bodies with no runnin gear/interiors will go for 3k here.... Case in point, buying any truck/SUV in utah used is a bad idea.

The one you described would be more like 15k here.

Without seeing it or some decent pictures, based off of your description, it is probably worth about 1/2 of what he wants for it if it runs and drives. Now if the body is just rusting off the frame, thats another story. Even low mileage, otherwise clean, Broncos can have floor and rocker panel rot. So I wouldn't rule them out.
