i realize this is off topic but i trust the info ive gotten from everyone here..
my buddy wants to but a 87 rv with a 6.9 in it...i tried to tell him the head gaskets are prone to failer and the guy selling it is full of ***** that theres nothing wrong with this moter..i had one and i know first hand this engine is a POS...
please offer ur opinion on this motor..it has 100 miles..never had the additive put in the coolant ..seller say hes replaced the rad...becaise of a rock..total BS..i had to replace my rad because it dissappeered..
My 87 f250 with a 6.9 lasted past 400K without any engine troubles. I did go through a set of injectors and an injection pump but that's all. The only reason I sold it was the body looked like swiss cheese...pplus I just had to have the truck I drive now....Needed the power
Yep, added the fw stuff, I can't remember either...there's new number for it now, can't remember that too LOL. I'm not sure but I don't think the additive would cause a head gasket failure. Not changing the coolant regularly might do it tho. I've only seen a water pump go bad due to no additive...bored a hole right though it. I've heard of, not seen, cylinder liners getting holes bored into them.
