EDGE... definately. Out of those two. I did tons of research before I made my purchase.
Your talking about two different animals with the 6.0 and the 7.3 and the research that I have done suggest that alot of people aren't hot to trot over the edge with the 6.0. The one saving grace that you have is that you already did the headstuds so that should save you in the long haul with the edge, but I would be worried that your tranny is going to take a crap because of it(alot of people have claimed that the edge was responsible for their tranny problems).
Your right... two completely different motors. No probs with my tranny though. Guess I'll cross that bridge if I come to it. Haven't heard anyone in my area ever complain about tranny problems due to the edge. I own a landscape business and tow in excess of 10k lbs 3-5 times a week. If your tranny is going to give out, it won't matter what modification you choose. All of them will overload it. At least the edge offers plenty of safety features.
If you're looking at programmers, the Edge Evo might be the better choice.
As mentioned, you may also want to look at multi-position chips as they offer shift-on-the-fly capabilities and can include things like high idle modes, valet modes, etc. Plus chips are usually a bit less expensive than programmers.
If you have any questions, feel free to give us a jingle and we can try to point you in the right direction.
You asked if I wanted to choose between the two, I would choose the Evolution today. The Edge was not available when I got my Superchips 1715. But the 1715 is good for Its time.
