Well I got a wild hair tonight and decided to take the grill off and paint the gray part of it. I decided to paint it gloss black. So I cleaned it up good and primered it then went to put the black paint on and it looked good until it dried and then I get this small discolored spots shining thru the black paint in a couple of places. GRRRRRR. Any Ideas??
What did you use to clean it up with? Maybe if you tried to paint it once more and see if it will cover them better. Are the spots like fisheyes or just little dots?
hmmm, I just did mine about 2 weeks ago but I wiped it with alcohol first, then primer, then gloss black. Turned out perfect. Can you feel them or just see them? If you can feel them you might need to feather it out with some #220 sand paper, if you cant maybe try another coat or two until it looks right.
did mine with high gloss black in a rattle can as well.....but the paint was made for plastic....sanded it then cleaned with mineral spirit and gave her 3 coats..after sitting all night try sanding it and shoot it again,,make sure its paint for platic...
Hmmmm....Maybe that was the problem it was not plastic paint, it was just dupli color gloss black. I will try this. They were not fish eyes or anything like that these were just a dis-colored area maybe an inch by 3 inches. Maybe I will try and post a picture later.
Ron that looks good, that is exactly what I am thinking about doing with mine. The grey has some faded parts to it on mine.
