I love these threads. People with 300's reassuring each other that 300's aren't bad. Who said they were? Funny stuff.

And I love how you're usually one of the first ones to come on and point it out. What is this, about the 20th time I've seen you put people down for getting excited about something they like? Stick to your V8 forum.

Probably the 3rd. And it is funny. You don't see it in any of the other forums. BTW, I didn't say a single bad thing. It's just funny comments like 'I have a 351w to use but the 300 is king' that entertain me.

its like people who like the same football team going to the same bar to watch a game, or people who like the same music going to the same club. we all like the 300 six, we like to tell stories about our engines. we share info and reassure people who just bought a truck with six that the really dont have to swap in an 8 just to have a "great" truck. we know these same thread pop up from time to time. its ok, just a reason to tell the latest thing to happen to us.

oh, and 300's rock!!!!!!!

BTW, you did. Telling people that you find their enthusiasm over something is entertaining and funny to you is, indeed, insulting. Why even bother?
And whether its the 3rd time or the 20th time, I just see you on here often enough putting down something that others appreciate. Why waste your time? Why waste ours?

Seriously, quit being a troll and go back to the V8 forums.

Im not really sure why all the toyota, ford dodge and the like are so obsessed with putting the V8's in their trucks. All of a sudden everyone wants a 300+ horspower to get the job done. Speed kills. The 300 is a somehat slow, but it runs like a tractor. Overbuilt and underpowered (about 30 horsepower/liter) built rock-solid, and tons of low end grunt. It performs great in a truck, and ford made a bad mistake by getting rid of it. It was probably a major factor in why the f-150 was #1 selling for many years.

a good example would be in tractors. companies like international tried using v8's in like the 1468 for example. of the ones that were made, few remain, simply b/c the engine was a dog. the 1466 could easily out lug it anyday of the week, low end torque from the I6 wins again.

the number of cylinders dont mean s*** when it comes to torque its the design of the engine

The SnowMan and I go to college together (no I'm NOT the chevy v8 zombie he refers to...but I know who is)....heck, we even work together!!! I have a Dodge Ram with a HEMI for a daily driver and I love it....but you have to wind up to go anywhere with it. 2000 rpm just gets you going, 2500 is better, 3000 is gettin with the program (so on...all the way up to 5700 or so) and it moves nicely.....after you get it wound up!! Kenny's old '81 with the tired 300 in it doesn't have to be wound up to get moving down the road.

The 300's are good engines and run for a long time.....I think alot of people don't like them because they want to race and go fast.....that's what my dodge is for....that's what my '69 is for (although the 390 does have a pretty good amount of low end torque)

i ain't had too much experience w/ v8's but i'm well learned in the diesel I6's and as such, the gasser versions come a little easier to me as a result. i kno how to run these things, what they are capable of, and why they are they are. this is perhaps y i prefer these engines firstly before a 302 or 351... plus, how many engine do u kno can do the same things as a v8 w/ 2 less cylinders?

i keep getting the "put a real motor in that truck" speech from all my friends too, but like i always say, it's a little something i call going down the road less traveled.
-everyone and their dog has a 350
-everyone automatically assumes if it ain't a v8, it's junk
-everyone thinks having a million horsepower is all that matters

...yet their faces say it all when u've just out pulled them and u let them have a peek under the hood!
yeah, when people tell me to put a real motor in my truck, I tell it already has one (the 300).
too many people have chebby 350s in their vehicles.
"whattcha got in there?" "a chevy 350" way to be original, like that hasnt been done before. 350s are as common as pavement on the highway. way to be different.

my 300 can do as much, and usually more, than the 302, with 2 less cylinders and 2 less cubic inches. lets compare:
300 torque:265ft/lbs at 2000rpm.
302 torque:270-275 at 3200 rpm. (correct me if im wrong those were off the top of my head.)
with my flowmaster 40 series muffler with 2.5" exhaust, ive prob got the same torque.

when i first got my truck, i wanted to swap in a v8, but that waqs before i knew how awesome the 300 is.

when we got the truck 4 years ago, it had only 112000 miles on it. today, im at 175300+-. and you can bet the farm those were hard miles. lets see;
responding to fire calls, going back and forth to school, hauling scrap metal, firewood, and...uh....tail. im doing 500 miles a week between school and work, and the FD, so that truck earns its keep. jumping on the highway with 700lbs of scrap and the truck taking off like it was empty, racing my buddy's turbo jetta uphill and winning, the list goes on and on.

i think this sums up my babbling: six in a row make it go, and go, and go, and...well you get the picture.

hahaha, i love it! anyone ever see the picture of the ford truck loaded down w/ like 2 or 3 insanely fat ladies? then underneath it read: "Ford, for when u really need to haul ***!" that totally came to mind there! ...but for that reason too is why i'm going to lift my truck in the near future...

Thumbs up lift a truck for what?

lift a truck to haul fat chicks? good idea! every time my mother in law gets in my bronco it loses about 2 inches. the 300 six does fine, but the suspension cries a little.
