Overdrive shutoff switch not working

Hello to all I was wanting to know if anyone might know what is wrong with my overdrive shutoff switch. When I push the button on the end of my gear selector the off light does not come on and the tranny will still go into overdrive. Anyone with a solution please let me know. Thanks Brandon my truck is an 02' 4x4 auto tranny f-350

Relatively common problem. This is a momentary contact switch, and over time the contacts can get dirty, corroded, bent, worn, etc depending on use. You can remove it and clean it, or just get a new one. They're cheap as Ford has been using the same switch in many models for years. Even Dorman sells one in their "HELP" line.
Ask any knowledgable person at a parts store for a Ford Overdrive Switch and they'll be able to help you.

There is also a fuse on that circuit. It is fairly common for the wires in the lever to wear through and short the circuit blowing the fuse.

Once you remove the steering column's trim, you can inspect the wiring for chafing.
