vacuum regulator valve

I did a google search and can not find a vacuum regulator valve anywhere. Are you certain yours is shot ???

The truck I bought last week (86 F250) had severe shifting issues with it's C6.

Turns out the VRV as WAY out of adjustment! I have it adjusted full Vacuum (tilted towards the Cab) and now the truck shifts GREAT.

BTW, my truck's vacuum pump is pulling 18lbs if that matters any.

Check your truck's VRV adjustment before you spend your hard earned $$$.

Yeah, the PO tried to epoxy it after he broke it. I am thinking that it is leaking.

hello. i have mine adjusted all the way towards the cab also. i could not get any more than 17 in. vacume. i am thinking maybe they are to have more and run about in the middle, maybe some body will let us know what is max in. vacume on modulator side of vrv at an idle. i put a tee in at vrv mod side with a vacume gauge at idle 17in all the way towards cab and o in. all the way towards the radiator.

hello, thanks Dave S., i am going to check the pin that sticks out of the modulator valve ,i was told by a c6 diesel man that it should sit .675 , either grind pin or add washer, i have to check mine and see if it has some thing to it and shifts better.

hello, a diesel needs a green stripe modulator, i put the pin in and pumped it up to 15" grind pin to .675 sticking out and i am having good shifting now, the vrv is real fussy if it is slightly out of adjustment the trans. works terrible. dont move regulator more than a pencil line at a time. 3/8 to 3/4 throttle shifts should happen before the engine runs out of power. no one seems to know what the max "s are on the mod side of the vrv, i guess 17" is min. to work at a c+

How to adjust VRV by James

You don't have the engine running for the test, you need to apply 20" vacuum (Hg) to upper VRV port and attach vacuum gauge to lower VRV port. The lower port is the one that goes to tranny, the upper to vacuum pump.
You have to maintain 20" vacuum (Hg) througout this test. If it drops off you need to pump it back up.
Remove throttle return spring, cycle throttle lever 5 times from idle to WOT. Make sure 20" vacuum is maintained on upper port side.
Move throttle so it is 0.515" (33/64") from wide open (they make a tool for this). Vacuum gauge should read from 6-8" of vacuum (Hg). If incorrect adjust VRV to 7".
Again apply 20" vacuum, cycle throttle from idle to WOT 5 times. Return to idle. Gauge should read at least 13".

It says if you can't get the 7" or the 13" to replace the VRV. If VRV checks out maybe the diaphragm (modulator), line from VRV goes to the vacuum diaphragm I believe. Can't find any adjustment for the diaphragm but I think there is a little.

Basically all you need for the test is a vacuum pump (handheld type), vacuum gauge and a ruler to measure 1/2" or a 33/64" drill bit in lieu of the .515" tool. And a screwdriver for any adjustment needed.

were is the thingy to adjust im new to this stuff just put a new 5.0 in my truck and it wont shift out now its a c 6 and it dont have a modulator valve soo were is the VRV located at
