06 Freestar 4.2 engine noise
Started noticing a noise when parked in the garage after the engine is hot at idle in park.....dont know if it does it when cold. It is an intermittent sound with no steady rythm; like gurgling or a hollow sounding hit from inside the intake. It is amplified greatly when the air cleaner box and flex tube is on the throttle body. I thought maybe something got sucked into the air cleaner box, but its clean, and so is the cold intake runner. I disconnected the rubber flex tube and air cleaner box, and the noise is coming from inside the intake. I thought maybe the IAC, but those usually hoot loud when they go bad. I dont have a check engine light on yet. Motor has 42,000 miles and runs like a top otherwise. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
