Whats up guys? Im new to this forum and im sure that this question has been asked already. What does anyone think about the fabtech 4wd lift kit for the f-150. The kit im looking at is the duel front shock 6" kit. Will 35x12.5 tires fit with out rubbing or would i need to get fiberglass front fenders? Any help will be great before i dump some cash.
the 35's should fit without rubbing so you will not need to get fiberglass fenders but if you want an aggressive appearance I would get a set of the bushwacker cut out fender flares they are cheaper and look nice. as for the Fabtech lift kit Fabtech makes a good lift but they are over priced. But that is just my professional opinion

I think they are overpriced too, what year is your F-150, I recommend skyjacker, they are the best out there and decently priced. NTWonline.com is a good place to get them.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Heavyduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Weighs around 7,000lbs w. 65mph top speed, who wants to race me!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Aug-02 AT 11:51 PM (EST)]To Run 35" tires you will need to move your bumper out 1". There is a kit for this, its only like $30. You'll also need to remove the black plastic airdam under the bumper.
If you dont do the above you will tear chunks off your tires when you hit a slight bump while the wheels are turned.
I recommend Skyjacker (www.skyjacker.com) also, they make the best product for F-150's. They make an awesome 8" kit also!
I have always heard negative things about fabtech.
Yea the fabtechs are a little over priced. I contacted skyjacker a few days ago and they dont make a lift for a 2003 f150 yet. I have a s-10 right now and there are a few stories i have heard about fabtechs kit being to stiff for the little truck. I was hoping this wouldnt be a problem for something a little bigger. My s10 is also 2wd. Oh yea skyjacker said they will have a 2003 kit for the f150 some time in 03. I plan on getting my truck a little before then or about the same time. And thanks for the info.
What year of trucks are you talking about when you say that with 35s, the bumper needs to be spaced out. On our trucks they don't, atleast thats the first time i've heard it and i've talked to many people with 4 or 6" lifts and 35s...

I had trouble on my air dam when the tire was turned on my 32s, but i just trimmed them. I've never heard 35's rub the bumper, you're sure it was the bumper and not the only the air dam? Sorry to invade the post.

Somebody else you may want to check out is autofab.com. They're down
in Santee, CA and make some awesome stuff - like TTB front ends with 16" of wheel travel:-staun
Anyway - good website and john at autofab is real good about responding to questions right away. I'll be down in his area around Christmas and am planning to pick up the fiberglas drop center hood and the 92 style prerunner bumper with a couple of mods to fit my 89 Bronco.
Check them out -
AutoFab only builds F-150 kits for the I-beam equipped 4wds - the 1980-1996 model years. If you want to talk about over-priced, John at AutoFab is the king! His kits are excellent but they are old designs. The newer designs take advantage of technology and products that weren't around when the original AutoFab stuff was created.
I've got a friend with the Fabtech kit on his 2002 SuperCrew 4wd... it rides pretty rough. He spent a ton of money getting every Fabtech option and in my opinion turned a comfortable truck into an uncomfortable truck. Running around the Orange County (california) freeways in that thing sucks - you hit the expansion joints and just bounce along. Most people think it looks good (if you like the look of Fabtech products) but I'm all about function. In real world off-road use that truck would be almost worthless - stock would outperform it. I told him to go another route but some salesperson just BS'd him into buying it... now he's PO'd he didn't listen to me from the get go.
If I was buying a kit for a new IFS Ford I'd go for a ride in a truck equipped with the kit first - don't trust anyones opinion but your own because that's the only one that matters.
I run a Superlift 6" and 3" body lift. I run 35x12.50, they rub a little. I reccomend getting the extended radius arms. Fab-Tech is greta, really strong, but like the name you have to fab some of the stuff they give you. I had to on my buddies Dodge when I put in his lift. Skyjacker is another good one. Try to stay away from lifts like fun country and the like. When it comes to lifts you get what you pay for. Some of my friends have had alot of bad luck with fun country. Alot of parts hitting, springs wearing quickly. Superlift and Skyjacker are the most popular. 4wheelparts.com has lift, tire and wheel packages that are hard to beat. I am trying to get all my pics in and the typing done for the lift to post here. It easy just follow the directions to the tee.
thanks for the info cpnhgnjnky. Just like all things, your going to hear the bad more then the good. i hear people talking about breaking ##### and i dont care if you drive a stock truck or a offroad race truck if you hit something really hard and at a high rate of speed your going to break #####. Monster trucks break #####, it just happens.
