Good evening,
Been out, here are the results from the last scan (at the dealership ) P2263 (turbo boost sys.)and P0603 (power interupt ?). Started it up and loaded it on the trailer, got it home and unloaded it. It still will only start every other day and run for 5 min. I did take some fuel, does not look like a water issue, both altenators ok, batteries good. So that's the latest.
New to the 6.0 diesel.....but this sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Fuel pump gets juice and pressurizes the injectors and she runs........ something interupts the juice to the fuel pump, she dies when the injectors no longer have fuel avail.. or ..it's the injectors with the interupted signal. Might want to loosen the drain valve on the lower fuel filter and turn on the key to see if you have pressure. I don't know if the fuel pump is controlled by a relay but I'd check that and I'd ck the injector relay.
If you have a way to do so, measure the fuel pressure at the filter test port (as Green_monster suggested). It may answer the fuel delivery question (45 psig is the typical minimum). FYI - In the 6.0L the high pressure oil is what is used to inject the fuel - using an intensifier piston. The issue may be HPO related, but it really seems electrical.
Do you have two alternators? You say they are good - is this because you did not get an alternator DTC or because you had them tested?
Also, did you check for wire harness chaffing (also as Green_Monster suggested)?
P0603 is a "Keep Alive Memory" PCM code typically from:
Disconnected/discharged battery
Open PCM pin
Faulty PCM.
P2263 is typically due to:
MAP hose
MAP sensor
CAC system leak
EP sensor
Exhaust restriction
Exhaust leak
hzuni, take it to Baird Automotive in Cruces and have "Doc" diagnose it. I had a problem a year ago and Doc diagnosed it and fixed it within 4 hours. T or C tech is not knowledgeable enough to trouble shoot complex problems because he is not a certified diesel tech. He has been a great help to me with other problems, but when the ICP failed on my '03, he suggested I go to Baird because the codes I was getting did not make any sense and recommended Doc to take a stab at it. Good luck.
The 03 will not set a light if the EGR is unpluged, but it will default the turbo. That will not cause it not to start.
the 03 will throw a cel light if you have california emssions or any state similar. I know mine did but I know also there are guys on this forum who unplugged without it coming on
