14.7k seemed to be the highest without a rough idle. i havent drove around w/ each only cuz i'm at work and i wanted to see which idled smooth. maybe when the truck warms up completely it will idle better with the higher ohm's.
he he ya it's a fun mod.
the truck will idle higher and smoother once warm but the higher ones may still be rough.
when mine is cold, it idles like a cammed gasser...
this here will smoothen out your idle... it equalizes the oil pressure between the heads. KCM S.S. HPX Line (94-97)
this is an older link so they might be cheaper somewhere else, but you get the idea.. good luck!!
ok so now i've drove around w/ each and the truck fully warmed up. w/ the 14.7k, the truck acts like there is a govenor @ 2700rpms and w/ the 15.6 it acts like a govenor at 2300rpms... no more go. just holds at 2300 and very very very slowly climbs up. even the 10k mod paused at 3000 and then climbed slowly. i thought this mod just increased the oil pressure a little and that my chip would advance the timing. i tried w/ the chip on and off. not happy w/ the performance. i do have the stock hpop though. would that hold me back?
its possible, might be fuel related as well. mine does exactly what you describe when i run the 22k. i have not had time to diagnose the exact concern. i need to hook up gauges to see which system is being over taxed. every 10k is approximatly 200 psi increase if i recall.
If you're running a chip, you most likely don't need this mod. The chip should be tricking the PCM the way we're doing it with the resistors.
I've had my truck on the chassis dyno (DynoJet) twice now, with the different resistor combinations. The first time on the dyno, I thought I might have some tranny or TC slippage. The second time on the dyno confirmed that.
I'm running a 15.6K resistor at the moment. Search for "ICP Resistance Mod Results" (or something similar) and you should find my results. One thing I found out is, EVERY truck will respond to this mod differently. If you don't get on the rollers, you won't know for sure if this mod is working for you or not.

so maybe the chip and resistor together is like workin against itself? i was hoping it would be similar to stacking chips. i ordered a HPOP from Midwest Fuel Injection today so maybe that will help ease my diesel power hunger for a while.
i run my icp mod with the chip, works great, you feel the power loss when you remove the icp mod. i lose no top end power at all. the largest increase is low-midrange though.
