I need to replace the windshield rubber on my truck and I've never done it before so I need a little guidance. Maybe even some tips. What's the best way to do it? Do you need any sealant?
From the pictures in your gallery it looks like you don't have the stainless windshield trim, that's a PIA to put in along with the rubber seal. Use a lot of soapy water and hopefully you have someone to assiste, you'll need both.
One more thing, cut off the four tabs in the window frame, they don't really do anything and are pain to deal with. You don't have to but that's what I did when I installed the windshield in my F-2. I also have the stainless trim piece and the instructions say to remove the if you are using the stainless trim but the trim doesn't do anything to hold the windshield in.
That's the best way to go. I've worked in the auto business, not any more, but when I did I probably put in at least 100 or more of this type of window in heavy equipment and old trucks.
If you are going to do it yourself remember not use any metal tools to work the rubber around the glass. I use a nylon tool used by the glass guys to work with the rubber. You can make one out a stiff piece of plastic or an old spatula:
