Has anyone used the Superrunner Steering Conversion? This looks like a neat idea, and the price on it is not that much higher than yet another set of replacement steering tie rods and ends. However, Superlift specifies a minimum of 3-1/2 inch lift, my '91 has 2-1/2, so I have fitment and geometry concerns.
Eddie,
I have a Superrunner steering kit installed on my 91 F250. I had to do a little welding to install it to where it worked propperly,(the atatchment of the bracket holding the pivot arm on the opposite side of of the pitman arm). Just looking at it does look like it would be a bit cramped with only 2 1/2" of lift. The pivoting arm drops down about 4" to match a a 4" drop down pitman arm. If it is to low it will start to flatten out the angle on the tie rods to the point that they would be to long. Although you would only have to cut and weld to shorten you your tie rods. It is a very stout system and has held up well to some very serious abuse all summer long. I think its well worth the money and effort to install it,(the steering stabilizer also had to be welded to work propperly). Later,
Jeff
Why did you have to weld to make it work? I have an `82 F-250, with a 6 inch lift, will I need to weld it? I am planning on buying the steering system today with the stabilizer. Thanks, Kyle
just something to think about ive got a skyjacker 6 in and called skyjacker about any kind of steering kits, they dont offer anything besides a drop steering arm because the superlift idler arm type the way it mounts to the axle drop down bracket it puts to much stress on the bracket .the bracket already has stress from the suspension add the steering systems forces on top of that and bracket failure or frame cracking could result also got a similar story from trailmaster. true i dont know for sure i have never known of anyone with any problems with super runner steering but the physics and stress issue does makes sense and why no other suspension mfg makes a similar system.
