Superlift Superrunner Steering

Has anyone installed or heard anything about Superlift's Superrunner steering system for Fords? My '94 Bronco's steering is very loose and has an off-center feeling to it. (It has a 4" Lift.) Thanks.

I just finished installing the Superrunner kit. It helped out quite a bit. B-4 it would dart from side to side following the road and now it is as close to steady as I can get without steering stabilizers which is next on the list. It bolts right up to the Superlift kit. Watch out though, the threads on the tie rod end are not the greatest. Check the nuts for fit before removing your old setup. Had to grind do the threads just to get the nuts on so I could get the cotter pins in.

I have a 1989 F150 with the 4" lift. I purchased the superunner steering kit and long radius arms as well. The superunner steering will eliminate the "bump steer" when one wheel articulates alone. As far as the straight line stability is concerned, however, it will not really help at all. When the road "camber" changes the truck still wanders more than a conventional suspension. The problem is that the TTB changes the caster and camber as the suspension operates, I believe this causes the straight line wandering. The longer radius arms help somewhat in this area by minimizing the caster change. The modification that helps the most is more caster, approx 8-10 degrees. I milled my long superlift radius arms at the top mounting bolt hole to move the top of the axle halves rearward. I installed a slug to fit in the elongated hole. This makes the vehicle track as well as it can, actually a pleasure to drive now. With a little geometry and knowing the existing caster you can calculate how much to mill. "Tom Woods" can help you with the custom driveshaft you will need. Changing the caster the way I did increases the pinion angle enough to cause a vibration.

i had the super runner steering installed along with the longer radius arms and a 6" lift to fit 36" swampers. the steereing is alot better. no more "wondering" on the road. no more bump steer. its still not the best, but a hell-of-alot better than stock.

Superlift Superrunner Steering

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Nov-02 AT 12:56 PM (EST)]Hey guys, I have posted this before but figured I would pass it along to any who may be interested. Performance Unlimited makes stronger tie rods and rod ends for the Superunner system. There are three grades I belive. Bullet Proof, Race Proof, and Rock Proof. I know some people have (as a very last resort, obviously) used these as lift or tow points with no damage to the rods. Thats how strong these things are. The only components needed from Superlift are the center "drag link" and the idler arm. The rest is available in kit form from www.performanceunlimited.com I think the kits range from about $300-500 but I haven't checked the site in a while.
