I have a 2005 6.0 F350 and would like to do the high idle mod on this truck. My 350 does not have the upfitter control on the dash, I guess it never came with one. How do I go about doing this mod with out the upfitter switches? I have looked at the Tech file and it shows the 03 mod without the switches but the 05 shows using the upfitter.

You can purchase a switch at your local auto parts store. That's what I did then just extended the wires to the switch. It works great.
I don't know how cold it gets in your part of TN but here in WV it can get pretty cold.
My 03 has no switch for the high idle. When the temps drop down to around freezing mine will go into high idle on it's own after starting...when you depress the brake pedel to shift the high idle cuts out. Once the truck is warm, mine won't go into high idle...only when it's cold.
I guess what I was trying to say was what wires do I use. I cant make heads from tails on the tech file what I should use for the 05 and where to place the switch in between which wires. Thanks!
All the upfitter switch does is give you 12v. It's pretty straight forward electrical work otherwise. No disrespect intended, but I'd get someone that either has done this before or has a good electronics background. The instructions found on this site make it a snap. I have an 05 and did it myself. I don't blame you for trying, but there's nothing worse in a truck than a screwed up electrical system. Good luck either way.
I don't know what wire it would be for your truck, but do know it's possible, because i saw the wires needed on this website somewhere for older year model trucks.
I think i found a good spot for the switch though. Now this is on an '05, but you could look.
If you get in the drivers seat, and pull the panel off that you hit your knees on, there will be a horizontal metal bar running where the bottom of the panel was. well i just put my switch facing down through that bar (hole was there already) and it is totally hidden, but easily found...
being there was more than one hole right there, i had thought about putting running lights, or some flashers down there. It gives the whole function without clutter feel..
But the upfitter switches come with the 12V already attached. So if you don't have the upfitter switch, how do you know what wire supplies 12V? The '03-'04 mod tells you to use the white wire to provide 12V, but the '05-'07 mod just says to hook the high idle wire to the switch. So what if you don't have the switch?
