I've got AVG 8.0 loaded on my Dell Inspiron laptop with Vista. A few weeks ago it apparently failed to update the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware. Update Manager is also 'disabled' everytime I open AVG now.
I sent them an email, they responded, and I did the AVG Diagnostic and sent them the results over 2 weeks ago. I'm getting concerned!
Anybody know what I could do to fix this? I already uninstalled it and reinstalled with the AVG cd.

I appreciate advice on this issue.
Is your clock set right?? I have seen AVG give an error if the time is off..
I had that problem too, I was using the free version not the CD version. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked, not sure why that's not working out for you. Maybe try again?
Did you try uninstalling it, then re-installing it?
(He says, ducking the brick flying towards him.)
All kidding aside. . . I upgraded to the 'freebie' version of AVG 8.0 and it wouldn't update the definitions, a couple of days ago.
It said something about configuration of the 'update manager'.
I re-booted and the darned thing updated like nothing ever happened.
Must be a bug. I had this problem on both my desktop and laptop recently with AVG 8.0 Free. The posted solution (actually, I re-downloaded it, too) worked.
