Hey guys... don't know if anybody else has run across this, but it sure is interesting...
I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop... just got it in late January. I installed AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) shortly after. This doesn't happen every time, but about every 2nd or 3rd time I start AIM, the AIM Today box pops up and suddenly my mouse arrow disappears. And doesn't come back. When I restart, everything is fine. Do you think whatever AIM is loading is causing this to happen? Oh also, a few weeks after I got it, my friend had me turn off some things in the system configurations, but they were only a couple of the things Dell installed (like the "help on demand" thing) I think at least. Anybody else ever have this problem?
Install a GOOD personal firewall AND anti virus. NORTON IS NOT a GOOD program. I use AVG antivirus (free from www.grisoft.com) and SYGATE personal FIrewall (another FREE program from www.sygate.com). It sounds like the typical aim problems. I'm assuming it's running windows XP.
Yeah, it's XP. I've never liked XP... anyway, I do have a firewall, it's McAvee firewall, viruscan, etc... just a bunch of their "protection" stuff. I was thinking I'd try turning off the AIM Today window because I don't like it there anyway. If that doesn't work, I was thinking of trying to extract DeadAIM from my old PC and putting it onto this one... I liked that better anyway... keeps logs of all your messages for you.
