If it is the new updated part then the connector on the sensor is different and will require the updated pig tale. IRC the old connector is a 2wire while the new one is a 3 wire.

I was charged about 800.00 from a dealer in Mississippi. Truck broke down and had to have it towed there. I was from out of town and at their mercy. should it be covered under warranty? I have 96K miles.

I did mine for $50. Got the sensor off of eBay used the original wiring haven't had a problem. It took me about 2 hours, most of the time was spent scratching my head. If I had to do it again, it would probably take 30 minutes. I got to it from the bottom.

Have them give you a full break down of the charges.
Materials ... part numbers and cost.
Labor ... how many hours and how much $$ per hour.

$800 is crazy, but was it for other work too? Did you pay for the tow?

Had mine done on the engine 5 year waranty, 100 dollars deductible, they changed the pig tail also. Mine had an intermitent surging at iddle and between 1500 an 1700 RPM, it did not fixed the problem. I had the IPR changed today, it seem to have fixed the problem, so far so good, 100 highway miles, slide camper and trailer. Will see if problems come back.

If you don't mind please post or send me a pm as to what town or dealership you dealt with. I live in Miss and don't want to get taken by that dealership for sure.
