What do you need bigger tires for, it already has a crap load of ground clearance. They changed the H2 because everyone was buying the H1 and driving it on the street, it's not much of a daily driver. They are doin something right if people but a lot of them.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Dec-02 AT 09:04 AM (EST)]About the H2 and its new CCTS (Computer Controlled Traction System) when it is in 4H for normal driving it acts just as everyone here states. In 4L it acts completely different. While in 4H the computer reads the speed from all four tires, along with the angle of the front tires and forward vehicle momentum, and adjusts braking pressure accordingly. This works great on snow, ice, and loose gravel driving conditions.

In 4L it reads only the speed of each wheel connected to the respective axle. It will only allow for .5 revolutions of the opposing wheel before it applies braking pressure to the spinning tire. The amount of pressure applied to the freewheel is controlled by the amount of spin.

The system can apply as much as 90% of the braking force to the freewheel, thus transferring that power to the other three wheels. All this happens within 2 revolutions of any free spinning wheel. The big difference between 4H and 4L is that in 4L, because the computer doesn't measure the forward vehicle momentum, you can spin all 4 wheels to clear them of mud. In 4H if you were try this the SUV will just crawl along.

Yes. It is traction control for soccer moms. It doesn't even work until your most likely already stuck. And it certainly doesn't help to have no momentum left before a system that prevents you from crashing off an icy mall parking lot doing last minute Christmas shopping starts to work.

I don't know where you got your info but I've never hear of such a system on the H2. They have a selectable locker (electrically activated and made by Eaton) in the rear diff not some crazy TC system.

Never heard that either, it has the Eaton E-locker in the back.

3rd the e-locker....in my opinion its just an overpriced yukon based vehicle that gm threw together with a bunch of different parts laying around. you could put 50+ grand into something much more useful.

To read a short review on the H2 go here http://www.epinions.com/content_75517169284?sp=ink
This gives a very basic descripction of what I posted for a more detailed and indepth (comes close to as much information as I have posted) go here http://www.amghummer.com/H2/H2specs.htm
For the full details on how the system comes together and works visit your local hummer2 dealer. I got the information from sitting through the dealers 30 minute "how to drive a hummer" training video.

That 2nd website says "Traction Control Traction Control: Brake-controlled, single-wheel control capability with rear axle locking differential" So it has Traction Control in the front and the locker in the back.
