Frame differences

Hey everybody, does anybody know if there is a difference on the 1984 f250 semi float to full float rear end frames? or is it just the axle that gives it the higher gvwr. I will be changing to a dually rear anyway (to carry a 2000lb car) and pull a fair sized travel trailer. This truck is just a smokin' deal that I have to know. Thanks Geo.

Frame is the same. Just make sure you get a dually rearend out of a pickup truck, and not a chassis cab truck. The pickup truck dually rear is 4 inches wider, which is what you will need.

One more thing, I don't plan on using the box...building a minor ramp deck. Would the width then still be a factor?

Yes. The chassis/cab trucks have a narrower frame, and narrower springs, and different spring perch locations. A pickup dually rearend will line right up to a pickup truck springs and frame. Just stay away from old wrecker trucks and any type of utility looking truck. You probably should measure your regular rearend you have now just to make sure you know what you are looking at during your search.
