I just went to the FTE 6.0 forum as my neighbor is having a problem with his 2004 6.0. After I posted some question I just surfed around an really ended up on a horror thread re Head Bolts Stretching. It seem that "TTY" bolts stretch and in doing so loosen the heads thusly blowing head gaskets. Altho they never said so it appears that these TTY bolts are stock issue.
The recommended solution are "ARP" Studs, these puppies also stretch but return to their original form.(They can really do that?)
Now my question, altho I have never seen it addressed: Are the OBD/PSD head bolts susceptible to this type of catastrophic failure ??
The 6.0 have the issue cause they have less head bolts than the 7.3. They only have 4 per cylinder and I think we have 6. Studs are stronger so they don't stretch. The only time the heads lifting will be an issue is in boost situations higher than 40 psi. Even then you might be ok for a while.
