i found a d-44 the guy said it was out of a bronco it is 8 lug the spring perches are 32 inches center to center the steering knuckel is a flat top with 3 bolts does this sound right would like to put in my 85-f-250

half tom axles are going to be a bit on the weakside if you plan on doing heavy wheelin. But if you just stick to trail work that axle will do just fine. As far as 8lugs, i have never heard of anything lower than one ton whith 8lugs, make shure you do your homework and know exactly how to identify the axle. And if something dosnt match (even a little thing) then dont buy it. Good Luck!

if it is an 8 lug dana 44 it is probably out of a 3/4 ton. ford did put these in their trucks it is a heavy duty dana 44. it has a stronger housing and i believe it has bigger axle shafts.
