Motor Mounts

I'm looking for some stock motor mounts for my newly acquired 52 F-1. These are the original mounts that I need and are riveted onto the cross pieces that go from the front cross member to the frame rails and actually support the engine. Much to my unknowing apparently the 48-50 F-1s (and likely the F-2s on up too) have the actual motor mount stamped into the cross pieces whereas the 51 and 52 have the motor mount pieces separate and riveted on instead of stamped. Why this change I don't know but the frame I have now is missing these pieces as it was an old hot rod and someone apparently ground off the rivets and removed them in order to put a different engine in it. I hope I've explained myself properly so that you guys and gals can understand and help me out. I'm also looking for a decent driver's door, the chrome strip that goes across the glove box door on the 51 and 52, a glove box door hinge, a transmission cover (the one that goes on the floor inside the cab). I have the following parts for trade if you are interested, a stock rear bumper, rear spare tire carrier, a reproduction chrome V-8 emblem that goes on the front of the hood on 52s, and a Airflow heater. I'm also willing to sell any of these parts also just let me know. Thanks for any help!

I have two 48 f1 project trucks. The first one I removed them as the truck was to be a street rod project. However the frame was pretty rough, so I changed directions, and bought the second truck. So the first frame is basically for parts, and since I already removed the mounts, which were riveted on, I have no use for them. I will see if I can find them. But it won't be til this weekend sometime, as I have a family funeral to attend on Friday, and while up there, I hope to get pics of the Big Job, and start making arrangements to get them back to my house (F6 and F7/8).

Very generous Havi, but '52's have different motor mounts than 48-51. I was just discussing this with Roger/RCAV8OR recently. I would guess that if you use the 48 mounting bracket and '48 rubber mounts, you are OK with a '52 engine and water pumps, but it might bear checking into. Neither Roger nor I can figure what the actual difference is.

Good point! OHV 6 cyl. might be a reason why? Sorry, John.

I had two '52s, a F-3 and a F-5. The F-3 had a V8 and the engine mounted like the earlier models, the F-5 had the six and had the additional brace for the new OHV engine. I still have the engine and front frame stub on the F-3, it's at a friend house and I'll try to take a look at it.

The 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog shows (Illustration catalog-front motor mount-page 157 for 215 I-6) what Ford calls a spacer #5016 riveted to the frame.

The parts catalog sez these parts fit (Text catalog on page 232) the following:

2) A8C-5016-A .. Engine Front Support Bracket Spacer

Fits (among others): 1948/52 C (F1), D (F2), Y (F3) I-6..

So here's what I know... The difference in the 52's vs. 48-51 is something in the rubber cushion assembly, I think a sleeve. Somewhere in 52 (running change) they changed the two pieces that angle from the front crossmember to the side rails, that have the motor mounts on them for V8's. The early style is a curved piece while the later is straight.

Another tidbit is that on all the trucks/frames I've seen, the piece that the motor mount sits on (that is riveted to the angled piece) are missing the rivet on the rear (see pic, not the greatest).

Are these what your looking for. The silver space between the rubber and the mount is my on doings and is not stock. I just needed to raise the front of the motor and lower the back to try and get the motor to set right. I do have and extra set of the mount towers but the rubber mounts I dont have. The 52's rubber mounts are a lot bigger in size...around 3 1/2" in diameter and it seems no one has them in stock. The rubber mounts I used are a set of body mounts for I think a ford ranger pickup. There half the price of the aftermarket original mounts and work better.

Yes, These are exactly the ones I'm looking for! Okay how much plus shipping to 95818? Let me know either by e-mail or post it here. Thanks a bunch!

Ross, On my first 52 F-1 which was built in Chester, PA and has a high production number than the second one I recently purchased, the mounts have rivets in all three holes. I know this because I was changing the motor mount biscuits last night and the chassis on this truck is basically all unrestored original. My other 52 is all apart and was a five star cab that was built in Richmond, VA production number 111970.

Did the other truck have the 3rd rivet? I'd bet a lot of flat-V8's went thru radiators in crashes! At first I thought someone had drilled or ground out those rivets, but there is no sign of it, and several other F-1 owners on the MSN board responded that theirs were missing too.

I would appreciate it if you could take pictures of all the components you found on your '52's mounts, I'd like to see what they included firsthand.

Ross, I have no idea if my other 52 had all the rivets in them or not as the motor mount "towers" are missing hence my need to find some. They were apparently removed to install a different engine and transmission as I believe the truck was someone's hot rod at one given that it has a chrome plated vent lid, ashtray, and glove box door, along with some medium green metallic paint that is faded and chipping off. I don't really know much about it and neither did the owner of the property it was on. He found it pushed off to the side of a mountain on his property.

Wow, pushed back to page 4, aren't I special! Sorry for the sarcasm. I haven't received back any responses from my follow up postings to those who said that they had some motor mounts. For some unexplained reason I am not allowed to send Private Messages to those who responded to my request so I have to resort to bringing this post back up in hopes that I can get in contact with those who have what I'm looking for.

You have to have a minimum number of posts before you can do certain things like email or PM, not sure what the number is. If someone sends me a note about them I'll forward to FHJ.

Ross, Thanks for your help it is appreciated. Until I get these mounts I'm kind of held up on putting the engine and transmission in the chassis.
