I have a 1977 F-150 custom 4x4 with a 302 and np235 trans. I want to put a 408 windsor with a C-6. Does anyone know what headers will fit and where can i get them, also where can i get new motor mounts, any help would be appreciated for that is all i need for the swap, thanks
anybody?, someone has had to put a 351w in a 77 F-150 4x4. There has to be a company out there who makes long tube headers for this swap, any knowledge would be appreciated, im trying not to have to build a boat anchor M motor for my truck, and i sold my Dove-C headed 460 last year
Your 302 motor mounts will work with the windsor engine block. No readily available headers for Windsor engine in 73-79 trucks as it was not a factory option. Don't know about 4x4, but in 2wd some people have used Summit brand long tube headers for a 302. I used Mustang shorty headers in my 79 with 351W.
Have you ever heard of anyone trying Flowtech long tubes for 1980 F-series 4x4 351w, i was going to try them but i was hopeing someone might have a magic answer
i dont know for sure but i think you'd have more luck with 302 headers for your truck than 351 headers for an 80up truck. really its just what 5/8's of an inch deck different or so, so that means that they will only sit approx 3/8-7/16 of an inch higher and the same about further out. this small amount can usually be overcame with a small amount of massaging with a torch or a bar if it even poses a problem.
A tri-Y design 302 header may give you even more clearance. Thorleys are the best option. 14ga. material 3/8 flanges.
Tri-Ys make better "usable" torque and have a narrower profile. i.e. closer to the block.
