If i do the disc brake swap on a 78 dana 60 with weld on brackets will i be able to run 15" rims also i cant remember if 15" rims will fit on the front, d44hd w/dual piston calipers. both axles came out of a 78 f-250 camper special
This is almost a trick question, and you did not even realize you were being tricky.
If you use a chevy rotor for the rear disc brake conversion, a 15" wheel can and will fit, and does not require the same backspacing as the same 15" wheel for the front.
The solution here is simply to run a 15 inch wheel with 3.25 inches or less backspacing, and regardless of bracket design, the wheels will fit both the front and rear, with very little to no caliper grinding.
I have been running 15" wheels (on 1 ton axles) with 3" backspacing for years with zero grinding on the caliper(s).
no intention of being tricky here... thats what i was afraid...i think my backspace is 4" id have to double check if i ever get back to wisonsin...thanks for the reply
