Hey, I love my DP tuner, however I have a question. I have the Smoke Tune, the 60HP tow, the 80HP econo, the 120 Race, and the 140HP Race tune. During my trip towing about 7500lbs in addition to a camper on my truck, I found that my EGT's barely changed with the different tunes I was in. I recently installed my Dual 4" turbo back system and did the 6637 Mod to my intake. I found that I was able to tow this load up hills etc and see little to no change in EGT's regardless of the tune I was in. Is this safe assuming I keep my EGT's under 1200? And is it ok to "Spike" higher than 1200 as long as its not for a long time?
Second question, can I send in my tuner for additional programs, and how long would that take?
Third Question, did you finish your "Drive Through" tune yet?
Thanks,
(I pretty much stayed in the 80HP tune the whole trip and noticed no change in mileage as well).
If you drive in 60 and mash it, the EGTs will not move as fast as if you were in 140 and mashed it. Just because you are towing, doesnt mean you have to be in a tow program. You can tow in any program as long as you dont sustain anything over 1300. You can spike as high as that gauge will go, but dont hold it for longer than thirty seconds or a minute

-It is all about the exhaust gas temps and tranny temps. If these are in the safe range you can tow in any tune you want.

-Yes you can send it in. His turn around depends on how busy but usually he has it out the next business day.
Third Question, did you finish your "Drive Through" tune yet?
-There are a few on here that have it and it works well according to them.
Wow! That was quick guys... Thank you for confirming what I already suspected. Just gotta figure out my other probs. Hey, whats with the tunes that he lists that have the code things next to them? Any reason I might want one of them?
Ihave the drive thru tune on my truck...with 250cc hybrids...the drive thru doesnt make much of a difference...but on stock injectors it sounds like a durasnax!
My drive thru sounds very lopey, on cold startup it smokes white like a banshee and is actually pretty cool considering it sounds like the engine is about to blow.
I would imagine it eliminates the code he has stated from showing on your fault codes. If you keep setting a 1211 every time you get on it hard this might be the purpose he intended it for. Give them a shout and let us know.
I tow 13,000 #'s between the camper and the boat. The last time out to the lake I used my 120hp race program and my temp's didn't even reach 1100*. Now I live in Kansas and the hills are pretty small here. Just watch the gauge and adjust as you need to.
For me towing 7500lbs in KY with big hills I dont get very hot with the chip on 3-4.
I pull a trailer with 21 big cows or bulls up some big hills with the chip on 4 I can get up to 1400 deg for a little and I do mean big hills all I do is let off a little and keep going.
But I do watch if it keeps going up turn it down 1 setting.

Thats pretty much what I did, back out of it, and let it cool, if the hill was too big, I just changed when needed... didn't really make a diff, still needed to back out of it regardless of tune though... don't like seeing 1300 for long.
