its not glow plugs

i bought a project truck, it has been sitting for 4-5 years, i toped up the one tank with fresh fuel, but if the engine hasnt been started in a day or 2, it cranks and cranks before it will fire, when it fires its smooth no miss. previous owner had it checked out, and replaced the gp harness and relay, i changed the fuel filter and cps but no change. oh, and its a 96 dit with an e4od.

First of all, Welcome to FTE.
Will it start up OK after it's warmed up?
You can check the GP system by watching the voltmeter, it should swing far to the left
when the key is first turned on. Wait 45-60 seconds after the Wait to Start light goes out on the dash.
Then try to start it.

Before you try to start it next time, check the oil level in the hpop res. There is a pipe plug in the hpop res(to the right of the oil pressure switch). the oil level should be with the top 1"

When it does fire up, is there alot of white smoke?

There's no fuel cut off switch, we've got a mechanical fuel pump, when the engine is turning the fuels a pumping.
