Has anyone ever ran these tires, let alone heard of them????
I went to my local town fair tire yesterday afternoon to get an idea of how much some new rubber is going to cost me and the salesperson there was trying to push the Mastercraft Courser AT2 on me. I have never heard of them before but evidently they are made by Cooper. They're not bad looking and are somewhat aggressive but i'm guessing they are pushing them b/c they have a special on them right now.
Sorry for another tire question but i wasn't buying what this kid was selling. He told me that the Mastercraft was just as good a quality tire as a Toyo Open Country or a BFG and was a more economical choice.
Any help would be appreciated.........oh and i'm definitely looking for a pretty aggressive tread style and i need something good for the snow seeing how i plow/sand in the winter, plus be able to hold up to a daily highway commute of 70 miles.
Had them on my '99 PSD-no complaints whatsoever. They were siped for snow & ice and got 50K out of them before selling my truck. I have to put new tires on my '06 in the fall and would not hesitate to put another set on. Hope this helps!
I have them on my 250 right now. Absolutly no complaints.
This is the 'economy' Cooper Tire brand.
My only complaint is the wear....these were put on in Feb of 2007 and are ready for replacement now....I've put a touch over 40K on them. I was hoping to get more miles than that.
If the price is right, get'em...they're fine for regular driving use.
Good to know, thanks for the info. Evidently i could get 257/70/18 right now for $239 ea, the kid said itthey normally retail for $275 ea.......i have no idea if that's true or even reasonable. Do you remember how much you paid for yours?
If your gonna spend that much on the Coursers, you might as well look into Toyos. After a lot of shopping around and haggling, I got a set of Toyo Open Country ATs in March of this year for $1000.00; out the door.
The mastercraft tires are an excellent tires. However, for $240 each i think you could find a little better tire for that kind of money. Thats almost a grand, that could probably buy you a set of mickeys, toyo's or even some BFG's. Or one of my favorites is the Super Swamper Truxus M/T and they are pretty reasonalby priced.
Well guys i'm clueless, i went to another tire place on my way home from work this afternoon and the guy there was pushing Cooper ATR's (275/70/18) on me and would do it for $972.57. I don't get it, i've been to two tire "chain" stores and neither one of the salespeople were trying to get me to buy Toyo's or BFG's.....am i missing something?
Why in the hell are these places telling you to buy cheaper tires if i'm willing to pay for Mickey Thompons, Toyos, BFG's etc? The guy today was telling me that the OE size isn't really common so there aren't too many options in that size range......well can someone tell me what i CAN run on my rig w/o rubbing or throwing off my speedo etc b/c this is getting ridiculous, i just want to buy some new rubber and be done w/ it!!!!
I just had fitted the new(ish) Firestone A/T tires (275 x 70 x 18E). They were about $200 ea fitted and balanced.
They ride much better than the stock tires and apparently they are selling a lot of them with very good feed back. Obviously being in Vegas in August I have no clue as to what they would be like in the snow!! (They are good in the wet - Thunderstorm tested !!).
I Put the BFG's on my truck in my sig. and went up to 285's. I had the dealer recalibrate the speedo, and they do rub at full lock on the left mud guard. They just catch it. My Plan is to level it in the front whenevr I get some spare $$ and find the Bilstien kit that Kepler has. Anyway if you are ever up this way or I can help you I can probably get you a set of tires for your truck. PM me and give me a email address or phone number. I would love to help you out.
hey rhode I run the cooper atrs on my 03 and love em you should be between $900 and $1100 for tires up here in New England. Town fair is a rip off big time, go in and complain about the price and the price drops dramatically. Try a warehouse club BJ's or Sams or even tire warehouse ( actual name) pete's tire barn. There are a ton of choices out there I have had my best succes with Uniroyal and Cooper ( best bang for the buck) There are other quality brands out there I know BFG's General and Continental need to be rotated regularly or they wear like crap but again there are guys here that like 'em and swear by 'em
i have both the current version and the old version of the courser at on my trucks. the AT2 being on my F250 and the Courser AT being on my work truck.
they are great tires and i haven't had a problem with them yet. the AT on my work truck are put to the test pulling the company gooseneck and they take the abuse (15K-20K average trailer weight range).
Probably because you have an expensive size to begin with and those are not necc a national big brand and they can probably sell it for a better price and make decent money on it since it is difficult to compare directly.
