new twin electric cooling fans and shroud!!

I just put a twin electric fan on my truck and did away with the stock fan and clutch. I actualy wanted to do this for a while and just found one that was big enough and bolted in. I'll post pics when I get some made.

Which one did you get, the flex-a-lite?
Seems like cangim or somebody had one, but it wasn't enough for towing so he put the stock fan back in.

it is a flex-a-lite with a diamond plate shroud it supposedly pulls 6000cuft of air a minute. it is for diesel application of 18,000 or less gcvw. I dont tow any more with the old 2000 it's just a toy so this should be ok.

Yep, that is the same one I tried, but as you stated if it is a toy and you don't pull, it will work awesome. I actually saw and honest 2 mpg increase around town. Just didn't cut it for towing. Luckily Summit took it back and refunded me. I hope yours turns out better than what mine did.

I thought it said right on there that it will cut your towing capability down a bit.

And do look into the big alt. I know they will put a pretty big load on the stocker.

I would go with dual alt since you basically have the setup

It depends -- are you using the space for something else??

It would probably be easiest just to do what Mike said. But if you want to stick with a single, you can get a 160A job for something like $250. I can't remember the site, but they fit in the stock position. Someone will give you the link, I'm sure...

The reason I say two is heat is usually what kills alts, having two spreads the load and reduces the heat generated, therefore, ideally extending the life of both.

This was interesting. I was looking at the summit fans. Was going to tackle this winter. But now i am doubting it will work. Towing compacity less? wow didn't know that. I will scratch that project. Thanks for posting this.
