That's why I would have to go with ARB's or something similar here in the northern part of the nation. Limited slips can even give you a scare if your not expecting it.
But for a trail rig (or one that doesn't see ice/snow) this is a very viable option.
Yes, i agree. Off road they are great. I run one in the front of my suzuki.
I am curious how well that lock right will hold up in a front d60 with say... 40's?
On another note, if they offer the lockright with the "factory side gear "option, I would go that route.
From personal experience, the aftermarket side gear set has a tendency to slip more. Especially if your axle is tweeked.
I am new to d60's so that might not be an issue.
its an "automatic" locker
it is always locked, but unlocks when you turn, allowing the outside tire to spin faster
The gears overrun eachother to allow the difference in speed
Its probably not the best if you drive in 4wd on the road alot
So its almost a more aggressive version of limited slip...almost?
It would sure be nice to throw one of those in.... I have been trying to find a cheaper locker. One thing I have never really understood is if I were to throw one of these in my dana 60 (front axle) would I still need to hop out and lock the hubs if the locker is always engaged?

yes.
all your hubs do is lock them to the axle shafts. the trasnfer case locks the driveshaft to the transmission. a locker/limited slip will make both axle shafts spin no matter what, it has nothing to do with having to get out and lock in your hubs or not
Nice writeup! I installed one of them in my rear 60 about 5 years ago. No problems so far, but I don't drive too aggressive. For what it is worth, I took my carrier out and installed it on the bench.

Do you have any action videos with it installed?
not yet, been too busy
But hopefully (if the wife lets me) Ill get out into some mud this weekend

One thing to keep in mind. The locker will only unlock when it is not under load. If you are accelerating when turning, the locker will engage and both tires will turn at the same rate.
Now that you have had it a while, how do you like it? Would you do it again, or use a different locker? I'm thinking of installing one of these to help me not get stuck when I go to the beach, Have you had a chance to try it out in Corpus or Port A? Sorry for all the ?'s, and thanks for a great write-up.
