Pricing 1972 Bronco

Hello All, I have been wanting to get into an Early Bronco for quite a while, just haven't been at the right place at the right time. I recently found a 72 aboiut 75 miles from me that looks to be pretty solid, I just have no clue on a fair price. I am including the sellers craigslist ad and pictures for reference. What do you all think is a reasonable price?

Craigslist ad:

72 bronco, 351w w/ 40k, 3 speed auto, 4x4, 35in tires 5.5in lift, front and rear lockers, custom steal bumpers, hard and bikini top, rhino lined tub, brand new spare, piaa lights, everything works like it should, Baja bucket seats, 6 point roll cage, power steering, disc brakes in front, orange in color with a black top, NICE pioneer sound system.

Has a salvage title because it was hit on the pasanger rear side. Was fixed and looks good. It has rusty spots all over but looks great from 20ft. Runs and drives great just spent $800 and had her all tuned up. Drives good at 70mph made a trip to salt lake with it last month.

Just off the pictures, $3500 max. I think rust will be a key issue on this one. Check door and striker posts, under those diamond plate rocker panel covers, all the mounting locations on the roll bar. Bedliner hides a lot of stuff, look underneath to see if is coming thru holes. Take a hammer and check frame especially behind the tires. Under hood on sides where inner fender and kick panels overlap. The rear corner, if tailight post was damaged in wreck is a bear to repair or replace. If all you want is a trail rig, you can look over some of this, but they may not be a good piece of metal on it. Good luck and look carefully. It can get expensive real fast, believe me.

Seen your ad on CB. They are out there, just takes awhile to find the right one sometimes. Don't settle for something you really don't want.

IM with GFW1985. I have a 77 that had rusted driver and passenger floor boards, no lift, crappy tires, ungly winch bumper, But Black with white top and 77. I paid 8k 3 years ago. Have about another 10k into and the $$$ is still going in. Bronco's are fun to work on and build, you can just about get anything for them. If your up to a drive check out craigslist in Portland, Or. there is a few on there. Toms Bronco Parts in Medford is a good resource.

Miles,
How much is yer '79? How much did U put into it to get it there?
This 1s got all the extras...how good is the "base unit' tho? R the goodies (351, 5"lift, etc) what YOU want? Don't need any of that for a DD/hunter's jeep. Plenty of EBs in coloradie. Not sure what the prices R there (or availability), his need, ur want, how close to a bigger city, etc, etc. Here - it would start @ $2000 and go up for the goodies (any sky's the limit, but $8K too much, Richard's $3500 a lill high too). Salvage title don't scare many of us...
I'll hafta look @ the CL link, good luck w/yer decision & thanks for the opportunity 2 join in.

I spoke with the owner and his bottom line is $3700. TO much for me to spend to not get what I am after.

Chad, I would guess my dad and I easily have $25000 in the '79. It was a stock straight 6 300 3 on the tree when I bought it for $1200 in 1999. It has everything a 9 second race car has plus about 2000 extra pounds. I am going to keep the truck and throw a fuel injected something in it for a street cruiser.

I think I am going to pass on this bronco. I really want to hold out for an uncut unit that I can tinker with and drive for a few years before I rebuild it.

it's the right yr. anyway (if U wanna finish up w/a "correct" rig, which may B what U want from wass up w/ur p/u). I pretty much went the restomod route as it's a wrk truck/DD/toy. Yeah, odd combo but an EB is usually multi-use, strict crawler, or show piece. Don't know many that use it 4 an income...
I'd just put new 1/4s on an affordable 1 to get "uncut" but I sure aint you. Good luck, keep us informed, it's just good to talk w/another EBer on FTE (B sides richard & rich).

That's gorgeous, I like the diesel idea. Buy the nicest shell you can if you're not a welder, sounds like powertrain won't matter much with an engine swap planned

found another that seems like a better deal. It is cut but the price of an uncut bronco is a little more than I am looking to spend just to get into one. What do you all think about this one?

"...I like the diesel idea..."
In my opinion - if small enuff (no 4Bt). Run veggie oil in 1 tank (the big un) & diesel in the other (to start/stop on to keep lines OK).
/OR/
the 300/4.9 - a gasser that's a diesel!!!

This 1 looks nice. May B follow the suggestions on what to watch out for.
I don't wanna make an offer on the other? and just: "...I'd just put new 1/4s on an affordable 1 to get "uncut" but I sure aint you..."
