body caulking

hello experts, I have a 1962 f100 unibody undergoing reconstructive surgery. my question is how did the factory seal the seams between welded and brased panels? In particular, the roof panel? Thanks for any info, and happy trucking!!!! -slo5.0

First off I'm no expert, But I'll give you what I found on my roof, Pretty much nothing between the two pieces of sheet metal that are spot welded together, There's a bunch of seam sealer up top in the gutter, some places about 1/8" to 3/16" deep with the stuff. If you are looking to refill seams just go to your paint store and purchase a good brand of seam sealer. What exactly are you trying to do?

Thanks for the info.... To answer your question, my truck is kind of a hot rod and the door handles and mirrors have been shaved. I was wondering if i should continue the smooth look by filling the seams completly flat (weld/filler). Sorry for the delay. Thanks again! slo-5.0

You might as well go ahead and fill the seams since you've shaved the mirrors and handles, it'll be be that much smoother with the seams filled.

Yea, I plan on welding/fill. Why, do you have any other, better ideas. I come from muscle car land, and any help with this project is appreciated. Thanks.
