was reading on here that some one took the purple wire with yellow trace
and hooked it up to a togle switch to lock the tourqe converter
has any one else done this
do you leave it locked up all the time
is it better for the tranny
thanks
many of us do and many have the switch as you read about..locking the tc is like taking your foot off the clutch in a hand shaker..i have the SP diesel that will lock and un lock my tc at what ever speed i choose...
Use it wisely. You can't leave it on all the time. Need to remember to unlock it when coming to a stop or you will feel the truck "shake & bake" and stall. Ussually need to unlock it no lower than 20 mph. Great mod for towing when you need to slow the rig down. But tuners like Tony & DP make there custom programs to do the same thing.
DONT LEAVE IT LOCKED AT LOW RPMS AND HIT HTE FUEL, youll roast the TC, apparently. the tranny builds more pressure as the rpms go up, so under 1000 is IMHO only for light throttle, and once i hit 1600 i mash it, but between 1000 an 1600 i kinda give it little by lirtttle.
I love mine when pulling, Helps big time keeping the heat down.. Running empty i don't use it. Did it all myself for under $50
Green led monitors, Red is for manual override.
1st switch is for TC lockup
2nd is for EBPV brake.
The rest are for future plans. like lights etc.
