got her done and no leaks with much better power..i can feel alot better power in stock from stop to top end..lot smoother and pulls harder..the 80E i can feel a big diff at the mid to top end in power..all much smoother quiter and less smoke...have not hooked AE up to it yet..just drove about 5 miles..im very happy so far all though it does seem to crank a little longer to start it up...in hopes that will away after a few miles to work the air out...here some pix for now..ill report back with ##'s later today..
i also had a leak for a very long time...blamed it on the drive gear covor..boy was wrong..
It appears that your new pump was of the "old" style, without the "screen" built-in to the o-ring gasket. It's good you didn't have to risk breaking your front housing. Whew!!!!
As you know, we don't need that screen if we keep our oil clean, and we know YOU do!
Glad you're getting some seat-of-the-pants noticeable improvement out of it, and that your leak is solved, too!
Keep us in-the-know on this one, as there are others on here that still have the 15-degree pump.
thanks guy's...had to take the girlfriend shopping ..just got back but I don't have any ##'s yet...the long crank starts went away and she fires right up now but the RPM's bounce about 50 rpm at idle...not sure what's up with that just yet...your right Pop's..with these early birds you never know what they use.. it is the old style gasket..I picked up both just in case..now I need to return the one with the screen..Joey told me they are re usable and I shouldn't need it..I'm almost at 200k miles and thought id have one just in case...I'm glad I did..the oil in the reservoir and pump was very black..the good news is there was no sludge at all in the reservoir...
So out of curiosity, how bad was your leak Ron? Was that big a piece missing, or did it have 2 breaks and you left the piece in between out of the photo.
Glad to hear things worked out for you. Congrats on the new HPOP.
thanks Chris..that whole thing was missing..leaked enouph to leave 3 or 4 drops in the shop over night and keep the oil pan from rusting......i thought it was the cover to the drive gear nut behing the EBPS but i was wrong..glad i had to take this apart and im very glad its just slinging oil in there...no psi to push oil out...i am lucky it didnt leak any more then it did..
